By noon, most of the damage was already done. Women balanced stacks of shoes on top of bags with one hand, leaving the other free for rummaging over each table grouped by size.

I sat down to try on my pile while keeping an eye on the growing line. Somehow I got distracted by this enviable pile below (left side of photo is about 1/3 of total shoe glory), and before I knew it, the line was wrapping around the entire floor.

While waiting I spotted this amazing vest. My favorite outfit at the sale.

A JC staffer mentioned that they delayed having a sample sale since they knew it would be a madhouse. However, with too much inventory they finally needed to free up some space. For anyone who has some free time today, I’d say waiting in line for $75 shoes never hurt anyone! Just make sure you’re wearing Nikes.
